Description

Downsgate Cottage is set in a great location just a short walk to the seafront and start of the famous South Downs and Beachy Head.

Situated in Meads Village area of Eastbourne, which is to the western side of the town. The quiet Holywell Beach is just a five-minute walk from the cottage, Eastbourne’s main beach with its host of facilities and pier is just one mile away along the seafront parade. For keen walkers this is an ideal holiday location, the stunning clifftop at Beachy Head with its breath-taking views is within one hours’ walk across the downs, guests may like to continue onto the Birling Gap and Seven Sisters, approximately a four mile walk. Pets are welcome at the cottage. 

The cottage has plenty of original features including a courtyard garden perfect for outside dining and entertaining. The accommodation consists of a  living room with two sofas, TV, DVD and feature fireplace, leading into a spacious kitchen breakfast room with oven/hob, fridge freezer, dinning table and 4 chairs and crockery & pans. a door from the kitchen leads to the spacious conservatory with additional table and chairs and direct access to the garden. There is also a downstairs cloakroom. Upstairs you will find two bedrooms the master bedroom offers views to the rear garden and has an en-suite bathroom the twin room located to the front of the cottage and next door to the shower room,The decor is superior and makes this cottage light and spacious. 

Meads Village is a short walk into Eastbourne town centre or local bus routes to the start of the South Down Way, the station and town centre or the open top sight-seeing bus are just a few metres away. Eastbourne has good transport links to Brighton, Hastings, Gatwick & London by bus or train.

On street parking directly outside the apartment, parking permits provided at an additional cost and need to be ordered and are subject to availability as we are limited to the amount we can order from the council

Excellent cottage, clean, cosy and has everything you need. Ideally located for walking South Downs Way which starts a few hundred yards away. Located in Meads Village which has Tesco, Co-op and a pharmacy, and bus to town centre every 15 minutes. Pilot Inn opposite the cottage does great food. Lovely to sit in the evening sun in the conservatory, and the small garden would be good to sit out when the weather is warmer. Overall could not fault it.

Very comfortable 10 days stay in Downs Cottage in the Meads. Excellent location at the western end of town. Short distances to provision stores, a variety of eateries, both the Ship Inn and Pilot Inn where the food is excellent. Access to town center is fast along the seafront where street parking is ample, and reasonable. We look forward to returning.

Great location

I can’t say enough good things about this place! It is spotless, huge, comfortable, and perfect for our family. We have visited Eastbourne many times over the years to see my in-laws. We have stayed at some ok places and some terrible places. On future visits this is the only place we will stay. My in-laws wanted to live here instead of their own flat! Everything from cleanliness to comfort to communication was faultless. We couldn’t have asked for more. This was better than a hotel that and was a real home from home with room for us all plus visiting in-laws! I feel that the flat is even better than the listing describes it. You won’t be disappointed.

Spacious & great location

A lovely, quite area of Eastbourne. Shops just around the corner. The flat was more spacious than expected. Stylishly decorated however the bedhead in one room impeded the ability to open the wooden blinds to get to the windows. The conservatory, leading to a private courtyard was lovely and would no doubt make this a great winter destination as well.
